Vetotop EC493 is a two-component, high-performance, solvent-based, single-coat application, epoxy coating system that bonds perfectly to various substrates like concrete, metal, wood, stone, etc. Once cured, the product has excellent abrasion and chemical resistance. Vetotop EC493 provides an attractive, durable, and easily cleanable floor finish. When used on floors and walls, Vetotop EC493 enhances the environment’s lighting due to the product’s reflective properties.
The surface should be sound, clean, free from loose material, grease, laitance, dirt-curing compounds, etc. Remove laitance and weak surface layers mechanically (grinding or blasting) to provide a sound, well-profiled surface.
Before applying the product, make all the necessary repairs using an epoxy mortar from the Vetorep ER range. New concrete floors should be at least 28 days old with a moisture content of less than 5% (Test the substrate’s moisture condition if you need to apply it earlier than 28 days).
Grit blast steel substrates to surface quality SA21 /2 (BS 4232:Second Quality); Apply within 2 to 4 hours after blasting.
Thoroughly stir the individual components of Vetotop EC493 before mixing them together. Pour the entire contents of the hardener container into the base container and mix the materials thoroughly for at least 3 minutes. We recommend using a heavy-duty, slow speed, flame-proof, or air-driven drill fitted with a mixing paddle.
Apply the Vetotop EC493 mixture to the prepared surface using a brush or a roll made from lambswool. Ensure that the area is completely coated and that the ‘ponding’ of the material does not occur.
The applied coating can receive foot traffic in 24 hours. However, allowing it to cure for 7 days can achieve the full chemical resistance properties of the material and make it ready to receive vehicular traffic.
Remove Vetotop EC493 from tools and equipment with Vetonit Solvent XX400 immediately after use. Hardened material can only be removed mechanically.
