Solvent-based high performance, self-priming, thin epoxy topping
Vetotop EC493 is a two-component high-performance solvent-based single coat application epoxy coating system that adheres perfectly to various substrates like concrete, metal, wood, stone, etc. Once cured, the product has excellent abrasion and chemical resistance. Vetotop EC493 provides an attractive, hard-wearing, and easily cleanable floor finish. Its use on floors and walls will enhance the environment's lighting due to the product's reflective properties.
BS EN476:2009 as class 1 in flame spread.
Vetotop EC493 is supplied in a 4 Liters Kit.
Yield: 10 m²/Liter @ 100 micron wft.
Stated consumption data are for general guidance. Actual consumption depends on the nature of substrate, method of application, and wastage.
The original sealed kit of Vetotop EC493 has a shelf life of 12 months, provided it is stored clear of ground in a dry and shaded place below 35ºC.
Vetotop EC493 is designed to be a hard-wearing single coat application on cementitious or metal substrates. When used on metal substrates, it is recommended that the application takes place within 2 to 3 hours from substrate preparation to prevent early rust formation. The applied product will be resistant to water as well as a wide range of chemicals.
Thoroughly stir the individual components of Vetotop EC493 before mixing the three. Pour the entire contents of the hardener container into the base container and mix the materials thoroughly for at least 3 minutes. The use of a heavy-duty slow speed, flameproof, or air-driven drill fitted with a mixing paddle is desirable.
Apply the mixed Vetotop EC493 to the prepared surface using a brush or lambs-wool roller. Ensure that the area is completely coated and that the 'ponding' of the material does not occur.
The applied coating can receive foot traffic in 24 hours. However, allow it to cure for 7 days to achieve the full cure to receive vehicular traffic and its chemical resistance properties.
Remove Vetotop EC493 from tools and equipment with Vetonit Solvent XX400 immediately after use. Hardened material can only be removed mechanically.
The surface should be sound, clean, free from loose material, grease, laitance, dirt curing compound, etc.
Remove laitance and weak surface layer using mechanical methods such as grinding or blasting to provide a sound, well-profiled surface. Fix all necessary repairs before application by using epoxy mortar from the Vetorep ER range.
New concrete floors shall be at least 28 days old with a moisture content of less than 5% (shall earlier application be required testing of substrate for moisture conditions shall be made).
Grit blast steel substrates to surface quality SA2½ (BS 4232:Second Quality); Apply within 2 to 4 hours after blasting.
Vetotop EC493 and Vetonit Solvent XX400 should not come into contact with skin and eyes or be swallowed. Ensure adequate ventilation and avoid inhalation of vapors. Some people are sensitive to resins, hardeners, and solvents. Wear suitable protective clothing, gloves, and eye protection. If working in confined areas, use suitable respiratory protective equipment. The use of barrier creams provides additional skin protection. In case of skin contact, rinse with plenty of clean water, then cleanse with soap and water. Do not use solvent. In case of contact with eyes, rinse immediately with plenty of clean water and seek medical advice. If swallowed, seek medical attention immediately - Do not induce vomiting.
Vetotop EC493 and Vetonit Solvent XX400 are flammable. Keep away from sources of ignition. No Smoking. In the event of a fire, extinguish with CO2 or foam.
