Stated consumption data are for general guidance. Actual consumption depends on the nature of the substrate, method of application, and wastage.
The original sealed bag of Vetonit Crack Filler has a shelf life of 12 months, provided it is stored clear of ground in a dry, shaded place below 35ºC.
Mixing
For mechanical mixing, add to the mixing container 9.5-11.0 liters of water for each 25Kg bag of Vetonit Crack Filler or 0.57-0.66 litres/1.5kg small bag. Add the powder to the water and mix with a mechanical plaster mixer, or mix using a low-speed electric drill fitted with a suitable paddle for 3-4 minutes until achieving a uniform, lump-free consistency.
Leave the mixed material to stand for 10 min and briefly remix without the addition of water. Mix small batch quantities manually for approx. 1-2 min or until achieving a homogenous mix.
When required, add 0.5 liters of Vetonit Bond 2 to the mixing water, and accordingly adjust the water requirement for each 25kg bag, or 30ml of Vetonit Bond 2 per 1.5kg bag. Follow the same mixing procedure as above.
Use the mixed material within 2 hours.
Do not add water once the mixed material starts to stiffen or harden.
Application
Apply Vetonit Crack Filler in two coats for wide and deeper cracks.
Apply Vetonit Crack Filler to the substrate by pressing the filler firmly into the cracks using a flat putty trowel.
After treating cracks with Vetonit Crack Filler, it is recommended to use Vetonit Joint Tape 50mm or 100mm wide. For better adhesion, use Vetonit Bond 2 when fixing the tape.
Use alkali-resistant paints and coatings as a final decorative finish.
Curing
Vetonit Crack Filler generally may not require curing. However, in extreme weather conditions (T > 45 C° and RH < 50% ), cure Vetonit Crack Filler by spraying the surface with clean water every 8-12 Hrs, for a minimum of 2 days.
Cleaning
Clean all the tools immediately after finishing by water. Clean hardened materials mechanically.
The surface should be sound, clean, free from loose material, grease, laitance, dirt curing compound, etc.
Before the Vetonit Crack Filler application, wet the entire surfaces with clean potable water and allow the surfaces to become damp at the application time.
Vetonit Crack Filler is highly alkaline, therefore avoid direct contact with eyes or skin. It is recommended to use protective gloves and goggles during the application. Wash any skin contact with soap and water. In case of eye irritation, immediately wash with a copious amount of clean cold water. Seek medical advice.
