A premixed Cementitious scratch/Key coat for AAC surfaces
Spatter Dash LB a cement-based coat composed of hydraulic binders, selected aggregates, and high-performance additives. It is supplied as a dry powder in pre-weighed bags ready to use on-site, which requires only the addition of clean water to produce easily workable mortar. Spatter Dash LB is a high-quality product for multipurpose applications such as scratch coat on highly absorbing surfaces and ceilings such as AAC, thermalite & calcium silicate.
Spatter Dash LB is supplied in a 50Kg Bag or Bulk.
Yield - 1.8 Kg/ m2/mm thickness.
Stated consumption data are for general guidance. Actual consumption depends on the nature of the substrate, method of application, and wastage.
The original sealed bag of Spatter Dash LB has a shelf life of 12 months, provided it is stored clear of ground in a dry, shaded place, at temperatures between 5ºC - 35ºC.
Mixing
Add to the mixing container 11 - 13 liters of water for each 50 Kg bag of Spatter Dash LB. Add the powder to the water and mix with a mechanical plaster mixer or low-speed electric drill fitted with a suitable paddle for 3-4 minutes until achieving a uniform, lump-free consistency.
Blend Spatter Dash LB manually for small quantities and maintain the correct amount of powder to water. Mix for approximately 1-2 minutes until achieving a homogeneous mix.
Application
Preferably, apply Spatter Dash LB in a single coat application to achieve the desired rough thickness of 4-6 mm.
Apply mixed material using a mechanical spray or manual spatter machine or hawk & trowel technique. Cover 95-100% of surface area that will be plastered.
Allow the installed Spatter Dash LB material to remain undisturbed for at least 48 hours.
Curing
Cure Spatter Dash LB by spraying the applied material surface with water every 12hrs for a minimum of 3 days. During hot & dry conditions, allow curing for a minimum of 5 days. It will help to obtain high mechanical strengths and minimize the risk of surface cracks.
Cleaning
Clean all tools immediately after finishing with water. Clean hardened materials mechanically.
The substrate should be sound, clean, free from loose material, grease, laitance, dirt curing compound, or any other substance that might impair the substrate's quality of the bond.
Before Spatter Dash LB application, damp the entire surfaces with clean potable water. The substrate should be neutralized surface at the time of Spatter Dash LB application.
Ensure the substrate is suitable for the application of Spatter Dash LB; in case of doubt, try on the sample area to assess its suitability.
Do not apply the product under direct rain, extreme wind, and temperatures below +5ºC or above +45ºC.
Spatter Dash LB is highly alkaline; therefore, avoid direct contact with eyes or skin. It is recommended to use protective gloves and goggles during application. Any skin contact should be washed with soap and water. In case of eye irritation, immediately wash with a copious amount of clean cold water. Seek medical advice.
