Vetonit Thick Render

Water resistant thick patch & repair premixed render.

Vetonit Thick Render is a cement-based mortar composed of hydraulic binders, selected sand aggregates, and special additives. It is supplied as a dry powder in pre-weighed bags ready to use on-site, which require only the addition of clean water to produce cohesive mortar. Vetonit Thick Render is a premium product that contains a shrinkage control additive. It is ideal for patch repair and thick plaster applications, especially in coastal areas. Vetonit Thick Render is available in grey, white, and in Saveto Standard Colors.

Uses

  • It can be used internally & externally to plaster block walls and rough surfaces.
  • It can be applied on vertical and overhead surfaces.
  • It can plaster smooth concrete surfaces and precast concrete surfaces with a scratch coat already applied.
  • Can be used to plaster a 15 mm layer in a single application.

Advantages

  • Factory-controlled pre-blend ensures consistently high quality.
  • Requires only the addition of water on-site at the time of use.
  • Suitable for the harsh weather conditions of the Middle East.
  • Easy application & uniform workflow enable high productivity & superior finishing.
  • Strong adhesion to a variety of substrates.
  • Shrinkage control reduces surface cracks.
  • Suitable for wet & dry conditions.

Usage Instructions

The substrate should be sound, clean, and free from loose material, grease, laitance, dirt-curing compounds, etc.

Before the application, wet the entire surface with clean potable water, and the surface should look damp at the time of the application.

Mix the following in a mixing container:

  • For manual mixing, mix 8-10 litres & the entire contents of the 50 KG bag in a suitable container.
  • For mechanical mixing, mix 11-12 litres of potable water with the entire content of the bag & mix at low speed using an electric drill fitted with a suitable paddle or a mechanical plaster mixer.

To achieve a uniform, lump-free consistency. Allow the mixed material to stand for about 10 minutes, and remix briefly without adding more water.

Mix small batch quantities manually until you achieve a homogenous mix.

Add 1-2 litres of Vetonit Thick Render to the mixing water and adjust the water requirement accordingly for each 50kg bag. Follow the same mixing procedure as described above. Apply a scratch layer first.

Use the mixed material within 2 hours. Do not add water to the mix once the mixed mortar starts to harden.

Apply Vetonit Thick Render in a single layer up to 15mm in thickness. It can also be used to apply multiple layers on rough or smooth surfaces to the desired thickness. For multi-layer applications, the first layer should be, at most, 15mm.

Apply the mixed material using a spray machine or a hawk & trowel technique, pushing the first layer hard against the substrate, rod, or screed to a uniform thickness. Immediately smoothen the surface for single-layer repairs.

The second layer allows the first layer to be partially set (60 - 120 minutes, depending on the weather). Apply the second coat as described above to the desired total thickness (not exceeding 30 mm).

Apply Vetonit Finish WR or Vetonit Finish WR EG as a finishing coat.

Cure Vetonit Thick Render by spraying the applied material’s surface with water every 12 hours for a minimum of 3 days. During hot & dry conditions, allow curing for a minimum of 5 days. This will help achieve a uniform colour, minimise the risk of surface cracks, and lead to higher mechanical strengths.

Clean all tools with water immediately after finishing. Clean hardened materials mechanically.
