The substrate should be sound, clean, and free from loose material, grease, laitance, dirt, or any other substance that might impair the product’s bond quality with the substrate. 

For proper adhesion, any weak surface layers such as cement grout or bright screed should be removed using mechanical methods such as sandblasting, grinding, or shot blasting. Surface roughening is required to enhance adhesion. Clean all dust and residues using an industrial vacuum cleaner, creating a contaminant-free and well-prepared substrate for installation. 

If there is a risk of rising damp, a suitable moisture barrier should be applied to protect the system from moisturerelated failures. 

New concrete surfaces must have a minimum compressive strength of 25 N/mm2 and a pull-off strength of at least 1.5 N/mm2. Concrete must be at least 28 days old and have a moisture content of ≤5-6% before application.

Vetonit Sport SBR Granules are mixed with Vetonit Sport UB337 to create a homogeneous blend for seamless application. The mixing ratio varies based on the specific application requirements, typically ranging from 5:1 to 10:1 by weight (granules to binder). 

For optimal results, the mixing process should be carried out using a forced-action mixer, which ensures uniform coating of the granules with the polyurethane binder. The components should be mixed continuously for 3-5 minutes until all granules are fully coated and free from any dry spots. Over-mixing should be avoided, as it may introduce air bubbles into the mixture, which can affect the final surface quality and adhesion strength. 

Once mixed, the material should be applied immediately to prevent premature curing and maintain optimal workability.

The prepared mixture should be evenly spread over the surface using a 3 mm V-notched trowel or screed bar to achieve the required thickness and ensure uniform coverage. 

Once applied, the granules must be compressed and leveled using a roller or a tamping trowel to create a dense and uniform layer with no gaps or voids. Proper compaction is essential to enhance the durability, shock absorption, and structural integrity of the flooring system. 

Layer Thickness Recommendations: 

• For playgrounds and high-impact areas, a base layer of 15-25 mm should be applied to maximize impact resistance.
• For athletic tracks and sports courts, a layer of 10-15 mm is generally sufficient to ensure optimal performance and surface resilience. 

If additional layers are required, each layer must be fully cured before the next application to ensure strong bonding strength and adhesion.

The initial setting time for the applied surface is approximately 6-8 hours at 25°C, during which it begins to firm up. To prevent any potential surface damage, light foot traffic should only be allowed after 24 hours. Full curing is typically achieved within 48-72 hours, depending on environmental conditions such as temperature and humidity. 

For outdoor applications, it is essential to keep the surface dry for at least 24 hours before and after application to prevent adhesion failures.

All tools should be cleaned with Vetonit Solvent XX400 immediately after use. Hardened material can only be removed mechanically.
