Elastomeric crack-bridging cementitious waterproof membrane
Vetoproof S is a two-component flexible polymer modified cementitious waterproof coating. It has unique crack bridging characteristics even after long-term water immersion. The product is suitable for use in contact with potable water and can withstand negative hydrostatic pressure.
Non-Toxic - approved in contact with drinking water.
Flexible, crack bridging material.
Ready to receive Saveto tile adhesives.
Withstands hydrostatic pressures.
Easy application by brush or roller
Bonds to green or damp concrete.
Effective barrier to sulfates and chlorides.
Excellent bond to concrete and masonry.
Vetoproof S is supplied in a 20kg Kit.
Coverage: 1.0 - 1.8 kg /m2/ Coat
Stated consumption data are for general guidance. Actual consumption depends on the nature of substrate, consistency used, method of application, and wastage.
The original sealed bag and container of Vetoproof S have a shelf life of 12 months, provided it is stored clear of the ground in a dry, shaded place below 35ºC.
Pre-wetting of the substrate
Thoroughly dampen the substrate surface with water using a brush, roller, or spray bottle. High porosity substrates will require more dampening than dense substrates. Do not apply the coating when the substrate is wet, but allow the water to soak in until the substrate is just visibly damp before proceeding. Remove any excess water by using a sponge.
Shack Vetoproof S liquid concentrate and completely pour it from the plastic container into a suitably sized mixing container. Commence mixing with a propeller agitator attached to a slow speed drill (300-500 rpm). Add the powder component gradually to the liquid to avoid lump formation and mix for 2-4 minutes. Immediately use Vetoproof S after mixing to avoid settlement of sand. Part mixing is not allowed. Mix the whole kit. Do not mix more material than can be used within the pot life. Keep mixing Vetoproof S during the application.
The most suitable brush is a soft-bristled wallpaper paste brush (220mm wide and 50mm deep). Where larger areas are to be applied, it is advisable to use a brush with a handle. Load the brush up well and spread the material to the required thickness. If the brush begins to drag during the application, do not add water to the material but dampen the surface again. Finish in one direction for a neat appearance.
Application by roller has the benefit of quick speed over brush application, particularly on smooth substrates. A good quality medium hair roller is recommended. Load the roller well for ease of application. A heavy roller will leave a pattern on the substrate; therefore, it is important to use a finishing tool to produce a smooth coating with a uniform 0.75mm wet film thickness.
Allow Vetoproof S to cure for at least 7 days before commissioning. At higher temperatures, 30ºC cure for 4 days. At lower temperatures, below 12ºC, cure the material for 10 days.
Immediately following application, clean all tools and equipment with clean water. Hardened material can be removed by mechanical means.
All surfaces should be dry and free from contamination, such as oil, grease, loose particles, decayed matter, moss algal growth, laitance, and all traces of mold release oils and curing compounds. This is best achieved by lightly grit-blasting the surface. Where moss, algae, or similar growths have occurred, please treat it with a proprietary biocide after the grit-blasting process. Remove spalled and deeply disintegrated concrete to sound concrete and repair it with a Saveto Repair System. Stop any running water with a suitable plugging mortar such as Vetoproof CR747. For further advice, consult the local Saveto office.
Vetoproof S powder is irritating to the eyes, respiratory system, and skin. Avoid inhalation of dust and wear suitable respiratory protective equipment.
Vetoproof S liquid is not classified as dangerous. Vetoproof S, when mixed, becomes highly alkaline. Wear suitable protective clothing, gloves, and eye protection. For both components and the material, when mixed, avoid contact with eyes or skin. Rinse immediately with plenty of water and seek medical advice.
Vetoproof S is non-flammable.
