Vetoprime EP390 is a two-component solvent-free epoxy modified with zinc to provide the highest protection against steel corrosion. It is a specialty industrial primer for the Vetorep and Vetotop product range, its applied on prepared concrete and cementitious substrates to seal the substrate and enhance bonding with topcoats. The product can be used as a stand-alone product in internal applications as a seal coat to harden cementitious surfaces and prevent dusting. Vetoprime EP390 has sealing properties, making it ideal for concrete substrates.
Vetoprime EP390 must be applied to a sound, clean, and dry surface to achieve maximum bond strength between substrate and coating/repair products.
It should be at least 28 days old, and the relative humidity of the concrete is 75% or below. Laitance deposits on new concrete are best removed by light grit blasting, mechanical scrabbling, or grinding.
Where heavy contamination by oil and grease has occurred or existing coatings are present, it is essential to remove contaminations.
Mix Vetoprime EP390 as supplied. Add the entire Mix Vetoprime EP390 as supplied. Add the entire content of the hardener container to the base container and mix thoroughly for about 2 minutes. Once mixed, apply Vetoprime EP390 in a thin continuous film by using stiff brushes or rollers. Avoid over-application and puddles. Allow Vetoprime EP390 to become tack-free before applying epoxy coating (unless otherwise specified) but well within the open time specified for the given temperature. The hotter the substrate, the more quickly the primer will become dry.
Clean all tools and equipment immediately after use with Vetonit Solvent XX400.
