Vetoflex PBR

Closed cell polyethylene backing rod.

Vetoflex PBR is a closed-cell polyethylene foam cord with minimal water absorption for sizing static and dynamic joints in the building industry. Available in different sizes that range from 6mm to 50mm in diameter and could be applied vertically and horizontally. Vetoflex PBR serves as excellent support for elastomeric sealants and efficient backup material for joint sealing applications.

Uses

  • Controlling and filling gaps behind sealants.
  • Prohibiting sealant bonding to joint fillers.
  • Allowing joint sealant freedom of movement to achieve its desired function.

Advantages

  • Easy to install (can be inserted exerting minor pressure into any joint).
  • Superior resistance from deterioration.
  • Exceptionally flexible.
  • Non-absorbent.
  • Acts as bond breaker with minimum strain shape for joint sealants.
  • Provides firm backing for sealant tooling.
  • Withstands adverse weather conditions.
  • Economical.

Usage Instructions

All surfaces where the backing rod is to be inserted must be dry, smooth, clean, free from dust, laitance, or loose materials. When otherwise necessary, it is highly recommended to use compressed air or a wire brush in order to remove further dirt, oil stains, and other inconsistencies.

Cut Vetoflex PBR according to the required length and lay it along the joints accordingly. Next, gently push the cord against the joint with extra caution not to damage the skin of the material.

Ensure that the diameter of Vetoflex PBR is approximately 20% to 25% (required depth to width ratio) greater than the joint’s width to ensure that the cord is tightly held in position. This procedure further enhances the aesthetic effect of the material when done on a firm base. Next, seal the joint with a suitable sealant from Saveto’s product range.
