Vetoprime EP490
Versatile and solvent-based epoxy primer.
Vetoprime EP490 is a universal primer for the Vetorep and Vetotop coating systems. It should be applied on prepared concrete and cementitious substrates to seal the substrate and enhance its bonding with topcoats. Vetoprime EP490 can be used in internal applications as a stand-alone seal coat to harden cementitious surfaces and prevent dusting. The product has two-component, it’s a solvent-based epoxy resin that has penetrating properties, which makes it ideal for concrete substrates.
Uses
- As a universal versatile primer for resinous flooring and concrete repair systems.
- As a stand-alone sealer and surface hardener.
- As a dust proofer for cementitious surfaces.
- Sealing of semi-porous cementitious substrates.
Advantages
- Easily applied by brush, roller or spray.
- Versatile with applications in a large number of coating materials and sealants.
- Deep penetration, designed for semi porous surfaces.
- High wetting properties.
- Cost effective, suitable for use in MENA region conditions.
- Suitable for the weather conditions of the MENA region.
Usage Instructions
Vetoprime EP490 must be applied to a sound, clean and dry surface to achieve maximum bond strength between substrate and coating/repair products.
It should be at least 28 days old, and the relative humidity of the concrete is 75% or below. Laitance deposits on new concrete are best removed by light grit blasting, mechanical scrabbling, or grinding.
Where heavy contamination by oil and grease has occurred or existing coatings are present, remove all contaminations.
Mix Vetoprime EP490 as supplied. Add the entire content of the hardener container to the base container and mix thoroughly for about 2 minutes. Once mixed, apply Vetoprime EP490 immediately in a thin continuous film using stiff brushes or rollers. Avoid over-application and puddles.
Allow Vetoprime EP490 to become tack-free before applying the epoxy coating (unless otherwise specified) but well within the open time specified for the given temperature.
The hotter the substrate, the more quickly the primer will become dry.
Clean all tools and equipment immediately after use with Vetonit Solvent XX400.
