Vetoset CA544

Polymer-modified and cementitious adhesive.

Vetoset CA544 is a cementitious adhesive that’s composed of high-performance hydraulic binders, synthetic resins, carefully selected fillers, and special additives. As a product, it is supplied as a dry powder in pre-weighed bags that are ready to use on-site (this only requires adding clean water to produce a creamy special mortar (paste) with thixotropic properties, improved characteristics, and slip resistance). Vetoset CA544 is specially formulated for sealing glass blocks and the installation of glass tiles. Vetoset CA544 does not contain asbestos fiber or other toxic materials.

Uses

  • As an adhesive for glass blocks and glass mosaic tiles.
  • For internal and external applications.

Advantages

  • Single component (it requires only the addition of water and is easy to mix and apply).
  • Excellent physical & mechanical properties.
  • Water-resistant.
  • Excellent resistance to yellowing.
  • Suitable for interior and exterior applications.
  • Excellent resistance to staining.

Usage Instructions

The surface should be sound, clean, and free from loose material. Level horizontal surfaces and ensure that the vertical sides are perfectly plumb-in or secured (to guarantee a perfect glass block alignment). The support must be solid, compact, free from loose parts, dust, and greasy substances.

To prepare a mortar adhesive from Vetoset CA544, pour 6 - 6.8 liters of water (for each 20kg bag) into a container. Add the powder to the water then mix with a low-speed electric drill fitted with a suitable paddle until a uniform & lump-free consistency is achieved.

Allow the mixed material to stand for about 10 minutes then remix briefly without adding more water. Blend Vetoset CA544 manually for small quantities but make sure to maintain the correct ratio of powder:water. Use the mixed material within 2.5 hours minutes (at 25°C).

Do not remix or add water to the mixture once the mortar adhesive begins to harden.

Apply Vetoset CA544 with a trowel, then position the glass blocks in the opening. Use a special molder to verify the alignment of the glass blocks. Remove any excess mortar before it hardens.

For gap filling, compact the mixture using a smooth rubber spatula. Let the product harden for about 10 minutes; after that, clean the surface using a damp sponge. When the product is well hardened, clean it with a dry cloth. Contact Saveto’s technical department for more information regarding the suitable substrates and tile types on which this product can be safely applied.

Clean tools and equipment with water immediately after use. Remove hardened material mechanically.
